What does DATASSURANCE pay for?

DATASSURANCE will pay for the technical work required to recover your data.

DATASSURANCE does not pay for
- transport costs of your computer to and return from the DATASSURANCE technical centre
- any new hardware or repairs to hardware that is required |

What type of data will DATASSURANCE recover?

DATASSURANCE will recover data held on personal computers and laptops only. A separate DATASSURANCE product is required for each computer/laptop as the product is linked to the serial number of the computer.

Can I purchase DATASSURANCE for longer than 1 year?

No - our contract is on an annual basis, but we will contact you towards the end of the year to ask if you want to purchase another contract. |

Can DATASSURANCE deal with all types of data loss?

Yes - DATASSURANCE will deal with data loss, however caused. So, if the data loss is due to hard drive (HDD) failure, virus or human error, your DATASSURANCE product will recover your data for you. |

What if DATASSURANCE cannot recover my data?

DATASSURANCE technicians have many years' experience of data recovery and they have a 93% success rate. There are cases in which some files may not be recovered but it is very unlikely that none of your files will be recovered. DATASSURANCE will use reasonable efforts to recover your data as per its Terms & Conditions.

Should our technicians not be able to recover your data, it is very unlikely that other technicians will be able to do so, and it may cost you thousands of pounds to find this out if you do not purchase DATASSURANCE. |

How will my data be returned to me?

It will depend on what the cause of the loss is. If it is a HDD failure, your data will be returned on a new HDD that will be fitted into your computer.

If your computer is under warranty, DATASSURANCE will arrange for the new HDD to be fitted under your warranty. If your computer is not under warranty, the cost of the new HDD will be payable by you.

If the data loss is due to other factors, the data will either be restored to your original HDD or can be sent back to you on a USB stick.

Our skilled technicians will discuss this with you should you use the service, and we can assure you that you will not be charged for any hardware without your prior approval. |

Can DATASSURANCE “see” the data on my computer?

No - the DATASSURANCE retrieval process does not allow our technicians to view data in your files. |

How long will it take for my data to be recovered and returned to me?

Over 95% of DATASSURANCE customers will have their data returned within 72 hours of the computer being received by us. If it is likely to take longer than this, we will call you.

Please note that DATASSURANCE is a Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm operation. |

How many data losses will DATASSURANCE pay for?

DATASSURANCE will pay for two data recoveries in any one product period of 1 year. |

Can I switch DATASSURANCE to another computer?

DATASSURANCE will only recover data from the computer that you specified at the time of purchase.

If you change the computer on which your data is stored, you must purchase a new DATASSURANCE contract for that computer.

If you contact DATASSURANCE, we will arrange a pro rate refund on the contract on your previous computer. |

If I purchase DATASSURANCE on a computer that is not new, I cannot use the service for 28 days. Why is this?

DATASSURANCE cannot have a situation where it is purchased only when a data loss has occurred, so we have introduced the 28 day rule to deal with this.

If you purchase DATASSURANCE on a "not new" computer, you will not be able to use the service until 28 days have passed since the date of purchase and your contract will expire 1 year after the date of purchase. |

Can I cancel my DATASSURANCE purchase?

If you decide that you do not require DATASSURANCE within 14 days of purchase, we will refund the purchase price and cancel the contract, subject to you having not used the service within those 14 days. |
